How to host a sustainable Summer picnic

Every year, Americans toss out more than 25 million tons of food, and nearly 40% of food in the U.S. is wasted annually. That's the equivalent of about $165 billion – enough to fill 28,500 tractor-trailers. In efforts to minimize the amount of waste we produce, this summer, I’m taking steps to reduce its environmental impact by hosting picnics that are more sustainable.

How to Correctly Recycle Your Beauty Products

Recycling makeup and skincare products can be especially challenging and confusing as they come in a huge variety of unique packagings. As attractive as beauty packaging is with all its glitter and gold, navigating through all the different tubes, pumps, jars, droppers, sprayers, and whatnot, and finding out what goes in which recycling bin can be a challenge.

Luckily, the beauty industry is shifting its focus towards sustainable beauty packaging and taking initiatives in the right direction.

However, sustainability is a two-way street.

Effortless sustainable fashion look book

Everything I've worn has been thrifted, upcycled, pre-loved, or clothes made from sustainable fabric and ethical practices. When I started this journey it was really because I was cheap and tired of spending money on clothes that were bad quality. As I was going through my journey I researched how bad fast fashion is for the earth. Not to mention the unethical practices and wages people have to endure who work in these fast fashion factories. I won't go into detail but will leave you with some eye-opening documentaries to see for yourself. Moving towards the slower end of fashion was easier then I thought. I'm a vintage kind of girl so buying pre-loved was really my scene and I didn't even know it.

Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide for the Vegan/Eco chick in your life

Anyone else get anxiety when it comes to gift-giving? I never know what to get someone or think my gift isn’t good enough unless I really really know you and even then I second guess myself. Every year, me and my husband’s family do secret Santa. This year I’m wondering if they have been paying attention to my cleaner and greener switch (they tend to get me beauty items). Although I eat more plant-based rather than vegan, most of my personal care products are vegan, cruelty-free and eco-friendly. So I thought it would be cool to put together a gift guide for that person in your life who's on a vegan and/or sustainable journey since I’ve had to do my own personal research.
